Job Purpose

Responsibilities of this job include inpatient and outpatient scheduling and registration for all inpatient and ancillary departments.

Responsible for switchboard operations, petty cash, mail distribution. Responsible for the organization and management of the Admissions office, its records, files and necessary systems.

Responsible for obtaining and verifying all authorizations for scheduled outpatient procedures and inpatient admissions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years prior experience in a Hospital / Physician Office
• Experience in a related position is preferred
• Knowledge of insurance, Medicare and Medicaid practices
• PC and keyboard skills required
• Accurate clerical skills
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work with diverse groups including; physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, and families.

It is the employee’s responsibility to know the requirements for certification, limited permit and licensure for their individual profession.

It is also the responsibility of the employee to notify the employer of the status of any certification or licensure issue or potential issue.

The employee will comply with all of the requirements outlined by the New York State Office of professions for the particular profession.
