River Post-Traumatic Stress Services is seeking a full-time Licensed Trauma Therapist to join their team.
River Post-Traumatic Stress Services provides outpatient behavioral health services for active duty military personnel, stationed at Fort Drum, suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress(PTS) . River Post-Traumatic Stress Services provides continuity of care for soldiers transitioning from an inpatient stay. With no other program like this in the country, River Hospital accepted the challenge and responsibility of offering outpatient mental health services designed specifically for active duty military personnel experiencing effects of Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) and difficulties related to stressful events experienced at pre-deployment, in-theater, post-deployment, or non-combat related incidences.

River Post-Traumatic Stress Services is dedicated to helping those who serve and protect our local communities every day as well.Treatment for trauma and stressor related disorders, including PTSD, is provided through River Post-Traumatic Stress Services for High-Risk Occupations. 

Job Purpose

Performs professional level work in meeting and conducting therapeutic services through a continuum of care that involves assessments, individual, family treatment, treatment plan coordination, referent relations, payor relations, and intervention with client support systems. Performs administrative duties in support of River Community Wellness Program.

Qualifications
Education
Completion of an earned Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or Marriage and Family Counseling from an accredited college or university with at least 60 semester hours of clinical coursework.
Professional Certification, License
Possession of current license as LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or LMFT as granted by the New York State Office of the Professions.
 
Specialized Knowledge 

•  Experience working with individual and family modalities.
• Knowledge of psychotherapy and methods.
• Knowledge and application of evidence-based practices.
•  Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with trauma survivors
•  Proficiency in various therapeutic modalities and techniques specific to trauma treatment
• Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough trauma assessments and develop treatment plans
•  Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Familiarity with the impact of complex trauma on individuals across the lifespan
• Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to counseling trauma survivors
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training in the field of trauma therapy 
• Ability to work with diverse populations and cultural sensitivity
• Capacity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and in accordance with HIPAA regulations

Other Characteristics

• Ability to organize and carry out new programs and procedures.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Complies with all DOH, OMH and Justice Center requirements.
• Completes Justice Center Mandated Reporter Training and Code of Conduct annually. 

Salary is based on years of Licensure and experience as a therapist. 
It is the employee’s responsibility to know the requirements for certification, limited permit and Licensure for their individual profession. It is also the responsibility of the employee to notify the employer of the status of any certification or Licensure issue or potential issue. The employee will comply with all of the requirements outlined by the New York State Office of Professions for the particular profession.
