The new Crisis Stabilization Diagnostic Center in the middle of Macon will be another historic milestone for Macon and the State of Georgia.
Once completed, the CSDC will be a 16-bed crisis stabilization unit for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and/or co-occurring IDD/BH diagnoses. Through a partnership with Mercer University School of Medicine, there will be additional space for outpatient clinic services such as primary medicine, dental, vision, podiatry, and other specialty services. This state-of-the-art facility will be a game changer for the care and treatment of the IDD population in the State of Georgia and other surrounding states.

Position
The BCBA will assist and provide oversight to behavioral services offered within the Crisis Stabilization Diagnostic Center and adhere to ongoing review and measurement of programs, services, and applications to comply with regulations, policies, procedures, and standards set by the Georgia Department of Behavior Health & Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). The Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) will approach all services from a trauma-informed and holistic view for adults with IDD and/or co-occurring IDD/BH diagnoses. 
The Crisis Stabilization Diagnostic Center (CSDC) will provide comprehensive assessments, behavioral design, and intervention programs for individuals with Intellectual Disability Disorder (IDD) and behavioral challenges. The BCBA will attend an interdisciplinary treatment team and support other discipline leaders. The BCBA will discuss cases, share data, and elaborate on treatment approaches, progress made, and discharge dates. Participate in the overall treatment approach from a team perspective.

Position Summary
The BCBA will oversee all ABA interventions for the clients on the unit. The BCBA will provide training and assist with implementing the Behavior Support Plan with all staff. The BCBA will also work directly with the parent/guardian to notify them of the client's progress, including weekly treatment calls. 
The BCBA will adhere to ongoing review and measurement of programs and service applications to comply with regulations, policies, procedures, and standards set by the Agency and the Georgia Department of Behavior Health & Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). The BCBA will assess, develop, and implement behavior interventions for individuals with Intellectual Disability Disorder (IDD) and behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide regular supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) that meets the current BACB supervision requirements. 
  • The Lead BCBA will assign and supervise the work of BCBAs and PRN BCBAs. 
  • Provides professional development and training to staff, including applied behavior analysis, learning principles, skill acquisition, positive behavior supports, and behavioral issues to positively impact service delivery. 
  • Provides advanced technical assistance and training to staff on treating individuals with complex behavioral, psychiatric, cognitive, developmental, physical, and health-related needs.
  • Assists Behavior Analysts and PRN BCBAs with complex behavioral assessments and treatment when necessary.
  • Conduct initial Functional Behavior Assessments, reassessments, behavior reduction programs, and skill-based programs to diminish challenging behaviors that resulted in admission to the unit.
  • Design skill acquisition programs inclusive of developing communication, independence, social skills, and adaptive behaviors necessary to diminish the crisis behavior when possible.
  • Provide parental training to ensure consistency of treatment after discharge
  • The Lead BCBA will oversee program reviews, including chart audits and consultation with the BCBA and PRN BCBA as appropriate.
  • Assists with hiring, performance management, and improvement and completes annual staff reviews for BCBAs. Works cooperatively with the Unit Direct Care supervisor to provide oversight and data supervision for RBTs.
  • Works collaboratively with the leadership team to oversee Unit functioning & participates as a member of the Process Improvement Team.
  • Prepare reports for and participate in DBHDD clinical review meetings.
  • Serves as Clinical Supervisor for BCaBAs &BCBA candidates requiring supervision per the guidelines of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Provides clinical supervision, feedback, and evaluation of BCBA trainees’ work and skill development to meet the requirements of the BACB.
Technical Competencies
  • Ethical Practices, Able to Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Analysts.
  • Collaboration: Able to understand and interpret organization, state, and federal regulations set forth to include professional development, safety training, and confidentiality policies as required by DBHDD and collaborate with other behavioral professionals.
  • Designing Intervention Plans: Able to design programs to meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of clients served while maximizing team collaboration, cooperation, and service integration across disciplines and the organization.
  • Training, Ability to certify in the Mindset, de-escalation methodology, and provide training to other professionals. In addition to providing needed training to caregivers and other individuals involved in the individual’s care to ensure consistency.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Must be able to remain calm emotionally and physically and refrain from responding inappropriately to irritate or upset clients who may attempt to evoke a response from the staff (such as calling names, spitting, or verbal threats)
  • Data Collection: Experience with severe and challenging behaviors. Collect data on behaviors and analyze it to measure progress, make informed decisions, and adjust intervention strategies.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Applied Behavior Analysis, Education, or a related field.
  • Must be currently certified as Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • 1-2 years of experience with Mental Health/Crisis Stabilization/Hospitalization
  • At least 1 year experience with dually diagnosed individuals (I/DD population, comorbidities)
  • 1-3 years of experience with supervision behavioral professionals
  • Great communication skills (oral and written)
  • transition from standing to knees without using hands, the transition from knees to standing without the use of hands, and perform all physical requirements of the training, including physical holds
  • Must be able to restrain an individual over 100 pounds, including a manual movement of a client into the Observation Room and a 4-point mechanical restraint if necessary
Conditions of Employment
  • Valid Driver’s License or Identification with reliable transportation.
  • Must pass an extensive background check
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must consent to TB test or Chest Xray
  • Must submit and consent to three acceptable reference checks
  • Must have the ability to pass basic CPR and first aid; Mindset and other required training (examples are HRST, SIS, and ISP offered by DBHDD)
