Position Type: Nurse/Licensed School Nurse Date Posted: 5/6/2024 Location: Pearson Description: Shakopee Public Schools is looking for a 0.8 FTE Licensed School Nurse for Pearson Early Learning Center. This position is for the 2024-2025 school year and follows the school district instructional calendar.
Job Summary: The Licensed School Nurse plays a key role in the health and safety of our youngest learners. The role is responsible for portions of the early childhood screening of preschool age children, completing early intervention childhood evaluations, and providing first aid to ill or injured children attending preschool programs.
Participates in the preschool early childhood screening for 3-5 yera olds by providing hearing and vision screening
Is part of the early childhood evaluation team. Participates in the early intervention evaluations for ages birth-3 years by completing health history assessments, parent interviews and file reviews of health records
Attends early intervention team meetings and serves as a liaison between early childhood screening and the referral process
Serves as a resource for parents who are in need of community-based health care support
Develops portions of the Individual Family Service Plan for ages birth through 3 years
Administer and document medications following district procedures
Maintain health records
Obtain immunization records for all students and complete state immunization reports
Participate in the special education evaluation process by completing the health portion of special education evaluations & Individual Education Plans, and completing Medical Assistance billing procedures
The LSN participates in regular nurse team meetings and other projects or committee representation as needed
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing
Current nursing license with the Minnesota Board of Nursing
Licensed School Nurse licensure through PELSB
Certified in first aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents, and staff
Previous school nursing experience is preferred
Working Conditions:
Office environment and in the school health office
Must be able to travel within the district boundaries
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
