Position Summary
Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communicator will be part of a team of professionals who help deliver benefit and training programs funded by labor-management Trusts. The Communicator is responsible for coordinating with the Communications Director, Long-Term Careworks Program Director, and other key stakeholders to develop and execute strategic communications plans, from concept to deliverables. While this position will be primarily responsible for Long-Term CareWorks communications, the position will also be required to cross-train on communications relating to other RISE Partnership programs, including Carewell SEIU 503, Uplift Oregon, and the Essential Worker Healthcare Trust.
Essential Functions
The primary responsibility for this position is to develop and execute—in coordination with the LTCW Program Director, Communications Director, and/or their designee(s)—communication campaigns to:
Recruit apprentices to the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Apprenticeship
Develop communication systems for marketing and recruitment for the newly established Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
Lift the profile of the program with internal and external stakeholders
Enhance internal communication systems for existing apprentices
Specific tasks may include (but are not limited to)
Writing, editing, and designing deliverables for program participants, including printed mailings, emails, social media content, leaflets, newsletter articles, and other participant communications, often on short timelines;
Audience assessment and targeted messaging;
Researching and assessing the best mediums with which to reach specific audiences;
Developing and maintaining relationships with partner organizations to coordinate messaging;
Maintaining a photo and video library;
Some video editing and production;
Photographing participants at events, meetings, training, and conferences;
Maintaining the Long-Term Careworks website;
Working with and protecting sensitive and confidential information;
Engaging with, and soliciting stories from, a wide diversity of long-term care workers, and comfort level in lifting up the voices of people of color, LGBTQIA people, immigrants, among other communities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent writing and communications skills;
Ability to apply an informed equity lens and analysis to all projects;
Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously;
A demonstrated commitment to advancing the voice and conditions of Oregon’s long-term care workers;
Excellent project management skills;
Self-motivated with ability to work well independently and to think on your feet;
Be curious, generous, open-minded and enjoy working as part of a team;
A commitment to giving workers the capability and confidence they need to make the most of their union-negotiated benefits;
A commitment to treating coworkers and participants with respect;
Ability to use the following office equipment, tools and machines: PC, multi-line telephone, copier/printer/scanner, fax, smart phones, computers with Microsoft, Adobe, and online web based secure applications;
Ability to support RISE’s organizational values of Respect, Integrity, Service and Equity in the development and delivery of your work including demonstrated positive interactions with staff, vendors, the consumers we support and other organizational stakeholders.
Experience
Three to five years’ experience in a professional role that delivers on the essential functions listed above;
Experience working in a medical insurance, long-term care, union, non-profit, and/or start-up environment preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is a confidential, senior management position that will engage in personnel matters. This position is not immediately responsible for supervising other staff members.
