RISE Engineering is Hiring an Associate Software Engineer Near Cranston, RI

Your Role

As an Associate Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement technical solutions and also support and/or install software applications and components. You will work from written specifications and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and maintain documentation of the application processes.

Job Functions

  • Build and maintain applications using Microsoft platforms (.NET, IIS, SQL Server, Azure PaaS) and languages (VB.NET, C#, PowerShell)
  • Provide support to Enterprise cloud applications, in-house developed applications, and legacy COTS products including Salesforce.com, Acumatica ERP, ACT, Promium, Sybase Advantage Database, etc.
  • Create and maintain scripts (PowerShell, VBscript, SQL, GPO, batch, etc.) used to support system operations and administration (scheduled tasks, batch automation, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain DevOps procedures, scripts, and automation while implementing Site Reliability Engineering practices in fault tolerance and concurrent maintainability
  • Create and direct software system testing procedures, documentation and programming to ensure all software is properly developed and regularly tested for quality assurance
  • Confer with other experts, including systems analysts, programmers and engineers to gather information on project feasibility, limitations, capabilities, requirements and interfaces
  • Engage with COTS software product companies to configure, maintain, support, coordinate periodic updates and upgrade of applications to achieve business requirements
  • Make regular modifications to existing software for error correction, adaptation to new hardware, cloud solutions, partner systems, network environments, virtualization platforms and to improve overall function and performance
  • Create reports, data extracts, and data marts using SQL queries, SSIS and other ETL tools
  • Evaluate new code for reliable architecture, stability, reusability, performance, automation, security and metrics
  • Collaborate with specialized teams from across the organization to develop and design solutions for technical business problems that increase staff productivity and help them achieve their financial goals
  • Mentor other team members, including programmers, engineers and technicians, to ensure quality work, reliability, overall performance and adherence to company standards
  • Occasionally provide other general IT and technology support as demands dictate

Qualifications

  • Three years or more of development using C# .NET, and/or VB.NET required
  • Experience using MS SQL Server, IIS, CSS, REST APIs, HTML, and JavaScript required
  • Experience using source code repositories such as CVS, SVN, or Git preferred
  • Experience with PowerShell preferred
  • Experience with data ETL (and SSIS specifically) preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure preferred
  • Experience with Azure AD and “single sign-on” concepts preferred
  • Exposure to DevOps preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar preferred
