About the role

• Performs routine cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements such as disposal of trash, sweep, mop, vacuum floors, stock and organize supplies, and maintaining custodial equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Clean windows and sanitizing office surfaces daily.
• Periodically perform deep cleaning and special projects.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Prior experience as a custodian
• Understanding of proper cleaning methods, including the use of various cleaning agents and equipment, to ensure efficient and effective cleaning while preventing damage to surfaces and materials.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards and hygiene practices to maintain a healthy environment, particularly in sensitive areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
• Familiarity with safety guidelines and procedures, including the handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment, to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Ability to adapt to different cleaning environments and requirements, and adjust methods as needed for specific areas or types of dirt and grime.
• Effective communication skills for reporting issues, understanding instructions, and interacting with coworkers, supervisors, and building occupants.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, supporting team objectives and assisting colleagues when needed.
• Keen observation skills to notice maintenance needs or safety hazards and address or report them promptly.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous custodial experience preferred but not necessary.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to read, understand, follow safety procedures.
• Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
• Time-management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality due to access to office spaces.
