Data Engineer
Data Engineer (Rio Tinto Services Inc., Chicago, IL): Responsible for delivering digital products and business results to the Borates and Lithium business using agile methodologies. Perform exploratory data analytics on business processes and operational outcomes in support of project scoping and shaping. Work with cross-functional teams of data engineers, data scientists, third-party technology companies, and end-users to deliver digital products that change decisions and improve business results in safety, cost and production. Identify and scope potential projects – working from the decision backwards, investigate the problem to be solved, the decision to be changed, the data and systems that underpin the business and then architect, design and deliver products that deliver the objective.
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days a week.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or Engineering discipline or a related field, and 1 year of progressive, post-bachelor’s relevant work experience as a data specialist role for a mining or manufacturing company that is supported by a global supply chain.
Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:
- Using Code Workbook in Palantir Foundry;
- Writing or maintaining Python or PySpark code;
- Palantir Foundry Pipeline development, maintenance, and troubleshooting;
- Creating and maintaining Palantir Foundry Objects in Object Explorer;
- Creating Palantir Foundry Actions;
- Scoping end-user requirements and designing user interfaces with stakeholders;
- Designing, creating, and maintaining Palantir Foundry Modules;
- Creating user training documentation for Palantir Foundry Modules; and
- Transforming SAP data table extractions into usable, clean datasets in Palantir Foundry.
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days a week.
Domestic travel required up to 8%.
