Job Summary 

The Operation Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations including facilitation of internal communication between field staff and management, outside agency interface, meeting the objectives of contractual agreements, equipment and supply maintenance, as well as other operational support functions as assigned by the Sr Operations Manager and State Director of Operations. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities 

  • General Responsibilities and other duties as assigned 
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, adhering to and reporting on the Base Budget
  • Ensures maintenance of adequate levels of staffing (using Onshift screens candidates, completes Structured Interview, makes employment recommendations, coordinates with HR screening activities, reference checks, and if extended an offer, coordinates with Training Officer clinical assessment and licensure requirements, schedules on-boarding activities) 
  • Provides field staff counseling and guidance, provides information and adheres to MedTrust all SOPs, procedures and policies (including information security and HIPPA); implements, trains and enforces company policies and SOPs
  • Responsible for mentoring, supervising, monitoring, directing and developing subordinates (including facilitating and ensuring a positive, professional, transparent, performance-based culture), including evaluating all field employees in his/her assigned area by completing performance reviews, counseling sessions, etc. (KPI – Completion of quarterly evaluation for all field staff)
  • Ensures PCRs and other field paperwork is 100% reconciled daily in conjunction with Billing Department (KPI - all Transport Records Complete within 48 hours from DOS)
  • Generally acts as Liaison with patients, public safety agencies, training staff, hospital/contracted facility personnel, and other system users regarding operational issues 
  • Ensures adequate levels of equipment and medical supplies for field units based on approved Deployment Schedules (coordinates with Central Supply and Fleet Management regarding replenishment and stocking activities)
  • Ensures maintenance of quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation (KPIs – Overtime Hours, UHU, Lost Hours, Deployed Schedule, SOP compliance [ie, Check-offs, Ambulance and base cleanliness], Clinical exceptions) 
  • Ensures 100% of operational response exceptions are brought to closure with appropriate action 
  • Promptly investigates incidents involving assigned units or personnel, including, filing of internal and external reports, communications with next level leader and clinical leader (KPI – Completeness of Incident File) 
  • Remain available to serve as a “scramble” truck crew member to addressed unscheduled “call-offs,” absences or other operational shortages
  • Serves on committees or with groups to set policies and generate ideas regarding policy, procedure, safety and operational improvements 
  • Prepare reports and manages projects as assigned by the next level leader or other company management
  • Maintain availability during disaster situations or mass casualty incidents and assist in any capacity needed Experience
  • Three years EMS experience required 
  • Must Be a Paramedic

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Must be able to function as a field Medic performing direct patient care activities
  • Must be able to drive an ambulance and have a driving record in compliance with MedTrust policy regarding insurability
  • Microsoft office experience Effective oral and written and Interpersonal communication skills. Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification High school diploma or GED. Current CPR, PHTLS, and ACLS certification, or equivalent credentials. Some advanced education preferred. Essential Physical Job Functions 
  • Must be able to successfully pass Physical Agility Test 
  • Aptitudes required for work of this nature are good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition that would not be adversely affected by frequently having to walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance at times
  • Must be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects
