Richmond Professional Lab is a commercial photofinishing lab located at 7545 Midlothian Turnpike. We edit, print, and ship photo-related orders for over 2500 professional photography studios operating in all 50 states. We maintain a broad product line, which includes small and large format photographic prints, canvas wraps, vinyl banners, t-shirts, holiday cards, ornaments, and mugs. WE ARE SEEKING TO FILL A SHIPPING AREA LEAD POSITION WITHIN OUR QUALITY CONTROL/SHIPPING DEPARTMENT ON OUR 2 ND SHIFT:

We are looking for an experienced Shipping Lead to help with the overall successful functionality of our Preship and Shipping areas. We work in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about finding ideal candidates to help our organization succeed. Our goal is to create a motivated and positive workspace with employees who are eager to learn and grow. We maintain a staff of just over 100 permanent employees, plus 200 seasonal employees depending on the time of year. Our business is highly cyclical, with two busy seasons per year – spring and fall. The Area Lead position is considered a management role, reporting to the QC/Shipping Performance Supervisor and assisting with mentoring, guiding, delegating, and supporting all Permanent Part-Time and Seasonal Associates within the area. The Area Lead will aid the QC/Shipping Performance Supervisor in the overall operation of the production floor, strategy development, and personnel evaluation. We’ll look to you to roll up your sleeves and truly get involved in the shipping process, including necessary troubleshooting and project improvement. Job Responsibilities:

• Catch any last chance order errors that may have been overlooked throughout the rest of the lab.
• Follow specific instructions pertaining to shipping details. Examples include date, rush orders, reprint needed, or VIP status orders.
• Efficiently assess and distribute inventory needs to the entire area. 
• Reorganize inventory pallets as needed.
• Carry out carrier handoff duties which include consolidating pallets, wrapping pallets in cellophane, relocating pallets to warehouse for pickup, and assembling new pallets.
• Assess area goals and ensure workflows stay organized on a daily basis. 
• Delegate responsibilities and monitor performance of team members within the area daily. This includes feeding work to shippers throughout the shift to ensure orders get out at appropriate times.
• Be knowledgeable in all area tasks and perform/train them as needed. 
• Remain organized in both a physical and digital environment. 
• Assist training and development of seasonal/part-time associates for ongoing development. 

Job Skills & Qualifications:

• Able to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management. 
• Able to lift and move up to 45 pounds throughout the shift.
• High attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills are a must. 
• Able to multi-task and prioritize multiple work areas so that they are all running efficiently. 
• Critical thinking skills are required for daily task delegation and workflow organization.
• Adaptable to unexpected workflow changes or staffing needs.
• Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable in setting own priorities. 
• Proven track record leading teams to accomplish outlined goals and objectives.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma required; further education preferred. 
• Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant leadership or management.
