About

Richland Library is seeking to hire a Full-Time Accountant III at our Main location.

Sample Duties:

  • Maintains financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
  • Prepares journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes
  • Contributes to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
  • Approves AP invoices for payment processing and reviews and posts AP journal entries for assigned accounts including but not limited to, the Library, payroll, and Friends and Foundation; assists AP Specialist with weekly reconciliations, as needed
  • Maintains documentation for accounts payable (AP), purchasing, and conducting internal audits
  • Assists with 1099 reconciliations and processing and fiscal year end reconciliations and reports
  • Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Approves journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes for Friends and Foundations
  • Reconciles the Friends and Foundation transactions and invoices the component unit for any funds due to the Library
  • Responds in responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits
  • Maintain inventory records of the Library’s fixed assets; reconciles with fund ledger and prepares and records fixed asset and depreciation reconciliation for annual audit
  • Meet processing and reporting deadline.
  • Assists with the administration of the grants project ledger including but not limited to, set up per all regulations and guidelines, budget entry, and reconciliations
  • Prepares materials to auditor for accounts payable.
  • Reconcile Friends and Foundation bank accounts monthly
  • Reconcile HRA bank accounts monthly
  • Prepares census reports for the finance office and assists with reports for other departments, as requested
  • Administers the grants project ledger including but not limited to, set up per all regulations and guidelines, budget entry, and reconciliations
  • Manage Finance help desk daily and respond to employees help desk tickets
  • Stays informed regarding budget processing and assists staff with budget issues, as requested
  • Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Follows organizational, County, and public health and safety guidelines and protocols and performs job functions in a safe manner and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures
  • Attends and participates in staff and professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and best practices
  • Learns and consistently exhibits Richland Library’s brand promises in all interactions with customers and colleagues; provides outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers; successfully ascertains and meets the individualized needs of each customer
  • May be required to work outside of standard business hours, including nights and weekends based on organizational responsibilities and job requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; supplemented by five (5) years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five (5) years of progressively responsible public sector accounting experience.

Location, Salary & Hours:

Where: Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201

Salary: $2,137.50 bi-weekly plus excellent benefits.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week to include occasional evenings and/or weekends: Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Job Role & Level: P3; Pay Grade & Salary Band: 7; FLSA Status: Exempt

** Richland Library may change location and schedule of any library job.
