Jailer/Dispatcher

Join our dynamic team as a Jailer/Dispatcher, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of Richland County. This multifaceted position involves both jailer responsibilities and dispatching duties, contributing to effective law enforcement and emergency response.

Jailer Responsibilities:

1. Inmate Management: Supervise and monitor individuals in custody, ensuring their safety and adherence to established protocols.

2. Intake and Release: Process the intake and release of inmates, including searches, booking procedures, and documentation.

3. Security Checks: Conduct regular security checks of detention facilities to identify and address potential issues promptly.

4. Maintain Order: Enforce rules and regulations within the detention facility to maintain a secure and orderly environment.

5. Emergency Response: Assist law enforcement officers in emergency situations within the facility, following established procedures.

Dispatcher Responsibilities:

1. Emergency Call Handling: Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls from the public. Gather essential information to dispatch appropriate response units.

2. Dispatch Operations: Dispatch law enforcement, fire, medical, or other emergency personnel to incidents, coordinating their response and providing necessary information.

3. Communication: Maintain clear and concise communication with field units, emergency services, and other agencies. Relay important information accurately and promptly.

4. Record Keeping: Document all incoming calls, actions taken, and information received.
Maintain accurate records for future reference and reporting.

5. Resource Coordination: Coordinate resources and responses during critical incidents, collaborating with various agencies to ensure effective resolution.

Qualifications:

Valid Driver license; Good driving record; Good physical condition; Eligibility for Wisconsin
Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification; No felony convictions; No domestic abuse convictions; Vision correctable to 20/20; Good verbal and written communication skills; React quickly and effectively to stressful situations; Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays;
Knowledge and skills in operating computer systems; Clear and concise speech; Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously; Ability to perform essential functions of this position; able to give credible testimony in court.
