Rice County is currently seeking a Seasonal Worker Highway Maintenance Workers to assist in Rice County’s Highway Department for the 2024 construction season. Rice County is located in southern Minnesota, about 50 miles south of the Minneapolis and St. Paul metropolitan area. The county, which encompasses an area of 516 square miles, has seven cities and 14 townships. This position is assigned to work with Highway Maintenance crew.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Traffic control flagger
Weed spraying
Mowing and cutting of brush
Bituminous pothole patching and crack filling
Repaint traffic symbols
Requires work on roads, ditches, fields and highway right of way where exposure to weather, dust, and exhaust fumes and traffic may exist.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED and valid Driver's License. Requires walking, standing, lifting and bending to a significant degree. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must have ability to work extended hours required.HOURS: Generally, 6:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Thursday. Additional hours may be needed on nights and weekends. Seasonal position. Approximate start date May 28, 2024, and approximate end date of August 30, 2024.
