Rice County is Hiring a Graduate Engineer - Highway Near Faribault, MN
***FIRST REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS MAY 20TH The Graduate Engineer is an entry level civil engineering position that performs and manages skilled civil engineering work in the surveying, design and construction of urban and rural county road and bridge projects. This position will assist the Design/Construction Engineer and Assistant County Engineer with the preparation of plans, specifications, and bid documents, and provide construction oversite of a wide array of highway projects. This position includes coordinating and working with technical staff to work as a team to deliver high quality infrastructure projects.
Performs and develops preliminary and final design plans, specifications and contract documents.
Directs, assists and obtains field survey data necessary to achieve design results.
Assists in and/or manages construction engineering of assigned projects.
Assist with the development of construction program needs.
Assists in responding to citizen groups and individuals to answer questions and resolve complaints.
Assists in review of plans, permit applications, GIS mapping and hydrologic/hydraulic designs.
Performs gradations and runs material quality control tests.
Performs other duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to obtain within six months of hire. Additional preferred qualifications include (KSAs) experience in surveying, design of construction projects and construction inspection, knowledge of construction equipment, materials testing, CAD, strong oral, written communication skills, ability to problem solve and project management skills. Hours: Normal business hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Full-time (40 hours per week)
