Position Summary: Summer Internships Available for College Students

RICARES is seeking college students to provide outreach, including recovery ally training and other programing throughout Rhode Island. Duties typically include assisting with program planning, implementation, and administration, internal and external operational/administrative liaison, program marketing, and reporting. Advocate on issues of importance to the recovery community. Serve as an ambassador of the recovery community and RICARES by putting a positive face on recovery. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Advocates for recovery through a variety of channels – media, special events, meetings, training, etc.
• Provide and assure all clients receive an excellent customer experience from initial contact throughout their entire involvement with RICARES.
• Writes, edits, and coordinates the development of promotional materials, educational materials, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.
• Performs clerical and administrative support tasks, including the creation, typing, and editing of program correspondence, reports, program handbooks, and other publications.
• May assist with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities.
• Communicates with participants throughout their experience to assure their needs are met with satisfaction. 
• Review and disseminate information gathered from participant evaluations of RICARES hosted offerings and any other feedback received regarding the delivery of our programs.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of addiction recovery premises and practices including familiarity with the recovery advocacy movement. 
• Experience with media and social media communications.
• Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
• Facilitation experience with formal or informal learning opportunities.
• Knowledge and experience with virtual delivery. (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex)
• Proven track record in providing an outstanding customer experience. 
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Strong customer service ethic.
• Cross-cultural skills and experience with culturally diverse populations.
• Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. (ex. Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Valid driver's license required or ability to obtain necessary transportation in order to perform the responsibilities/tasks of the job.
