Position Summary: The Recovery Coach will provide recovery coaching services to those seeking or in recovery from substance use disorders. Recovery coaches serve as motivators, recovery resource brokers, and liaisons.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide recovery coaching, including motivating and empowering individuals in or considering recovery.
• Facilitate timely referrals to treatment and recovery support providers.
• Connect recoverees to a larger community of care by building their recovery capital.
• Provide ongoing recovery coaching with recoverees as requested.
• Engage in strengths-based recovery planning with recoverees.
• Serve as a recovery ambassador.
• Promote the vision, mission and services of RICARES.
• Participate in ongoing recovery coach training, education and performance support.
• Report writing and record keeping as required by RICARES.
• Educate recoverees and the community at large about substance use–related problems and recovery.
• Collaborate with the recovery community, social service agencies, local businesses, and other resources.
• Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and develop strategies to overcome those barriers.
• Facilitate recovery support groups.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to the recovery community.
• Peer Recovery Specialist or CCAR Recovery Coach Academy trained.
• Experience with the addiction recovery process, including a working knowledge of behavioral health disorders and the drug and alcohol treatment system.
• Understanding of medication-assisted recovery and practices.
• Familiarity with local support services, resources and recovery community.
• Capability of building an effective coach-recoveree relationship, including ability to set healthy boundaries.
• Demonstrated skill in actively listening, asking good questions, awareness of self and treating people as resources.
• Availability to work different shifts as necessary.
• Cross-cultural skills, and experience with culturally diverse populations.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
• Strong customer service ethic essential.
• Familiarity with computers and basic software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
