The Human Resource Team is seeking a Benefits and Compliance Coordinator to assist the Senior HR Leadership team with ensuring we are in compliance and up to date with training, benefits and state/federal requirements. This individual should be a self-starter, collaborative, comfortable working within ambiguity and employee experience driven. This role is on site in Los Angeles, CA five days a week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Current duties may be changed if the job requires and/or additional duties may be assigned if necessary.
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Lead annual open enrollment process for the company. This includes coordinating timelines, training, and communication.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits eligibility, coverage, and claims.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers, brokers, and other vendors to resolve issues and ensure smooth administration of benefits programs.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing benefits-related communications, such as open enrollment materials and plan summaries.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases related to employee benefits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in benefits laws and regulations and make recommendations for process improvements as needed.
  • Organizes and implements administrative systems and procedures performing necessary support duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all relevant information is in HR Systems for new hires, promotions, transfers, terminations.
  • Troubleshoot issues and answers questions and/or resolves problems related to the plan claims, eligibility, enrollment, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance and training schedule.
  • Partners with HR in following an auditing program and scheduling reviews to monitor compliance and training completion rates.
  • Creates, updates, and administers audit ready checklists.
  • Improves areas of the business that do not meet requirements.
  • Partners with key stakeholders on resolving any compliance issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining various company records and policies.
  • Creates an auditing program to monitor the company's adherence to legal and ethical requirements, including but not limited to compliance with city, state and federal ordinances.
  • Assist in investigations into complaints or allegations of non-compliance, discrimination, harassment, or other HR-related issues as needed. Ensure thorough documentation and adherence to investigative protocols.
  • Collaborate with HR team members on various projects and initiatives as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS-
  • The ideal candidate will have minimum of 5 years of experience assisting with benefits and compliance administration and a strong understanding of benefits-related regulations and processes OR a minimum of 5 years of experience in a benefits and compliance administration role or similar capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or relevant work experience.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits programs and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and COBRA.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal documents and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively educate, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders and peers at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software (e.g., Workday, ADP, Bamboo HR)
  • Knowledge of working in Kantola or a similar learning management system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Self-starter, able to work in a space of ambiguity and evolving role.
  • Problem solver, resourceful, and able to find solutions independently.
  • Bilingual, Spanish preferred.
Pay Range
$70,000-$80,000 USD
