SUMMARY

The position of Speech/Language Pathologist provides a diagnosis of cognitive/communicative and swallowing disorders and administers speech, language, cognitive, swallowing, and aural rehabilitation therapy services to physical medicine rehabilitation patients or long-term acute care patients served from age 15 and older, either individually or in groups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Administers S.T. evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs, integrating age-specific needs and issues for physical medicine rehabilitation populations or long-term acute care populations served.
• Provides comprehensive and accurate assessment for adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairment per policy for inpatients or outpatients.
• Responsible for assuring the treatment plan is revised/updated appropriately and communicated to appropriate team members including attendance at team conferences.
• Accurately documents patient treatment in a timely manner to ensure an accurate and complete medical record.
• Provides clinical supervision, including but not limited to coordination of care and delegation of duties, to assistants, techs, and yearly students according to state/governing regulations and hospital guidelines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• CFY required.
• Master's Degree in Speech or Language Pathology from an accredited college or university required.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing Association required.
• Speech Pathology license from the State of Indiana required.
• CPR certification required.
• One (1) year of clinical experience in rehabilitation is preferred but will consider Clinical Fellowship Year candidates.
