RGA is Hiring a VP, Business Initiatives, Strategic Growth Solutions Near Chesterfield, MO

Position Overview

Develop, lead and set strategic direction for product and initiatives for USIL, whose mission is to build innovative new businesses that transform the way insurance is distributed and underwritten. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product innovation and management with a solid understanding of technology, marketing and distribution in the insurance arena. Launch, lead and scale strategic business prototypes with the potential to create transformational growth for RGA. Work with RGA colleagues to develop new business concepts and innovative solutions in support of RGA business initiatives.


Responsibilities

1. Lead assigned strategic business prototype

  • Establish milestones by which USIL initiative progress will be measured
  • Communicate USIL initiative results and progress to interested stakeholders
  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenue for the initiative
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objective for the initiative
  • Ensure the execution of day-to-day operations of the business initiative
  • Lead the innovation process through the idea generation, explore/test, prototype/pilot, and scale up phases for the initiative
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the initiative
  • Provide people management and leadership
  • Problem solves where necessary and remove roadblocks
  • Drive the initiative to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow, and business objectives
  • Develop and maintain effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including internal companies, contract counterparts, clients, and vendors.

2. Serve as subject matter expert for USMIL in assigned area of expertise

  • Lead discussions with clients and partners on product and topics related to assigned area.
  • Maintain current and advanced knowledge of a broad range of topics and principles, industry best practices and competitive product positioning to ensure RGA is in the forefront of change for area of expertise.
  • Work closely with RGA internal and external partners to understand proposed products, markets, and potential.
  • Secure support from the RGA management team for recommendation(s) regarding the initiative, including financial implications

3. Actively participate in business development activities, as well as, idea generation and innovation activities of RGA and champion new product or business model opportunities.

4. Maintain regular and predictable attendance

5. Perform other duties as required


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business,Economics or related degree to area of assigned expertise (ex. Technology, Healthcare/Bio-medical, Actuarial, etc.) or equivalent related work experience
  • 7 – 10 years life or health insurance experience
  • Advanced PC and technical skills, spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software.
  • Expert investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Expert oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received
  • Expert ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
  • Expert skills in customer relationship management and change management
  • Expert ability to implement organizational and/or departmental vision and goals that result in achievement
  • Expert ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously
  • Expert ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines
  • Expert ability to make timely and effective decisions
  • Expert persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers to resolve issues/problems
  • Expert knowledge of the life insurance industry, reinsurance market practices, and relevant insurance and tax (GAAP, Statutory) laws and their impact on client operations.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree, MBA
  • 10 years life or health insurance/reinsurance experience
  • Experience working for or with direct insurance companies including distribution and marketing

Pay is based on a number of factors, including market, a candidate’s skills, and experience commensurate with a role, etc. salary range: $171,220 - $254,960 bonus
