REPORTS TO: Division Engineering Director or Division Vice President

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: 

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a team of Engineers to complete projects within customer expectations and company objectives. As the Engineering Group Manager, you will direct Engineers, design, program, test, and commission projects within budget and on schedule. You are responsible for oversight, development, and implementation of control systems for the process to achieve availability, cost, and functionality goals. You will provide all work direction and strategic leadership for the Group, as well as maintain responsibility for allocating resources among conflicting priorities while providing oversight for projects. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Organize engineering group to implement projects on schedule and within budget limitations.

· Assist the sales departments with development and review of estimates and proposals.

· Train, mentor and assist engineering resources.

· Maintain good relationships with customers, consultant engineers and vendors.

· Identify new or innovative solutions; consistently look for material and labor savings.

· Keep abreast of the latest technological developments in our markets.

· Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems divisional purposes.

· Design and direct personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment; determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.

· Develop applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new divisional uses.

· Direct activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.

· Direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.

· Manage team of engineers including coaching, training, and work prioritization.

· Lead engineering review of customer technical specifications and the translation of specifications into safe, high quality, compliant equipment/systems.

· Consult or negotiate with customers to finalize engineering project specifications.

· Provide technical and engineering resource input to new business proposals/opportunities.

· Manage electrical engineering workload to meet critical customer deadlines.

· Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent plus extensive experience/knowledge of engineering, construction, design, and management required.

· Experience/knowledge of finance desired.

· Minimum of five (5) years of related engineering experience, including relevant leadership experience directing a team of engineers. 

· Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NEC and other industry applicable standards and codes. 

· Must have proven multitasking skills and can work in fast-paced, high demand environment. 

· Must have excellent analytical and computational skills. 

· Focus on driving results, efficiencies, and productivity. 

· Ability to gather, analyze and summarize data to draw rational, fact-based conclusions. 

· PMI – CAPM or PMP certification desirable. 

· P.E registration is highly desirable. 

· Ability to effectively interface with customers as well as co-workers. 

· Ability to gain respect of peers through team-based approach.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

· Work is performed mostly in office settings. Some fieldwork is required which may require overnight travel.

· Occasionally work is done in the field, which could be in a construction area and which could require the use of earplugs, hardhat, steel toe boots, and safety glasses. The work environment could be outdoors, hot, cold, noisy, and/or dirty.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position, and business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Longer hours and evenings might be necessary.
