Retina-Vitreous Surgeons of CNY, P.C. is growing and were seeking candidates with a passion to provide outstanding customer service for our patients.
Job Summary:
Greet patients checking-in for appointments to ensure a pleasant patient experience. Performs routine clerical duties including checking-in and checking-out patients, scheduling appointments, updating patient information in the practice management software system, collecting patient co-pays and collecting patient outstanding balances. Project a professional and positive image through in-person interactions.
The Medical Receptionist will be required to travel on as needed basis to provide reception assistance for any of our satellite offices (Ithaca, New Hartford, Vestal & Watertown). Travel milage and a travel stipend will be provided.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
HS diploma or GED required.
Three (3) or more years’ healthcare receptionist experience desired.
Associates degree or certificate from medical assisting or secretarial program preferred.
Knowledge of all types of commercial and Medicare insurance.
Experience using a personal computer in a windows environment.
Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered.
Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
Ability to operate a computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, photocopier, and postage meter.
Computer Software: Nextech, MDI, Microsoft to include Outlook/Express, Excel and Word.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Computer proficiency includes word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
Demonstrates professional appearance, manners and decorum.
Maintain a positive relationship with patients, physicians and other staff. Is conscientious of other people’s feelings and rights. Is always polite.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Good communication skills including verbal and written communications.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization structure.
Some analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
Skill in organizing and establishing priorities.
Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
Must be detail-oriented and well organized.
Ability to maintain accurate records and data files.
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, crouch, bend or kneel, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Close mental and visual attention required to perform a wide variety of tasks dealing primarily with operating a multi-line telephone, using a computer terminal, and filing/sorting.
