The Vice President of Finance is responsible for overseeing the company’s bookkeeping and finance activities in accordance with GAAP and applicable governmental regulations. In addition, this position assists HR with new employee setup and the administration of company benefit plans and insurance policies. This position also manages the company’s contracts database and a small number of service vendors. This position reports to the President.

Essential Functions: 

• Ensure the company’s financial records are kept in accordance with GAAP, particularly in the areas of revenue recognition and accrual accounting
• Deliver incisive financial and management reporting to ownership and operations
• Develop annual budgets and interim forecasts that provide actionable information to senior management
• Establish and maintain a documented bookkeeping cadence and process to ensure the timely and proper completion of all activities
• Ensure the accurate completion of all bookkeeping entries and activities through appropriate oversight and review
• Ensure the timely processing of payroll, payroll withholding, A/P, A/R, and debt payments
• Maintain effective relationships with banks, accountants, lenders, vendors, and other external partners and customers as required to effectively perform the role
• Maintain the company’s assets list, debt schedules, cash projections, depreciation schedule, and similar items
• Maintain the chart of accounts, user administration, memorized reports, and all other aspects of the accounting software
• Coordinate with the company’s CPA regarding tax and other complex issues
• Instill a continuous improvement mindset within the finance organization
• Direct the overall financial activities for the Company and connect all departments using KPIs and Budgets.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support HR processes, including new employee setup, benefits enrollment, wage garnishment, and other typical employee lifecycle items
• Manage service vendors including lawn service, uniforms, and IT services
• Review insurance and benefits options to ensure optimal use of the company’s investments and expenditures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position will supervise a team that consists of the following roles: 

• • One Accounting Manager
  • One Supervisor of Client Care Coordinators
  • One Senior Bookkeeper
  • One Accounting Clerk

Competencies:

• Highly proficient with QuickBooks and advanced expertise with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Microsoft Power Query and other Excel data management features a plus
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP standards related to the role’s core activities, particularly percentage-of-completion revenue recognition rules
• Demonstration of company’s values in every action
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and strict confidentiality

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required
• A minimum of five years of progressive finance or bookkeeping responsibility required
• Experience with a multi-state, multi-site, multi-lines-of-business company required
• Experience in reconstruction or similar service company using job costing strongly preferred
• Bookkeeping or accounting certification is strongly preferred
• Experience with precentage of completion

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
• Rare day or overnight travel to the company’s various locations
