Life Enrichment Coordinator
Position Summary: Plan, schedule, and lead quality life enrichment activities and programming for residents at the Farmstead, in an environment that promotes their rights, dignity, freedom of choice, and individuality. Deliver exceptional customer service in all aspects of job execution. Create excellent working relationships with the residents, staff and volunteers.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop, supervise, direct, and organize an ongoing program of group, independent, and one-to-one activities for residents of both independent and assisted living while monitoring the work of assigned staff and volunteers.
- Assure the preparation of a monthly and annual activity calendar based on the assessed needs and interests of residents, focusing on the physical, social, spiritual and leisure wellness of each resident.
- Plan and maintain department budget, assuring budgetary compliance.
- Evaluate care plans for residents and participate in care conferences as needed in AL
- Coordinate Resident Council meetings on a monthly basis
- Participates in staff interviews, staff evaluations, coaching and counseling.
- Assures services are carried out according to policy and best practice guidelines.
- Professionally represents Resthaven and interactions with community members while demonstrating a genuine commitment to the mission of Resthaven.
- Maintain supervision of Independent Living and Assisted Living of The Farmstead activities and activity aides.
- Assists with the display, storage, and organization of all seasonal decorations.
- Coordinate transportation of residents for all activities according to Resthaven policy guidelines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
- Collaboratively implements programming with different departments/campuses as appropriate.
- Assumes all other position related responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly when leading activities or making announcements.
- Effective verbal and written communication and re-directional skills.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including fax, telephone, copier, etc.
- Computer literate and familiarity with Word, Excel, Email, etc.
- Communicates effectively and tactfully, while recognizing age, cultural orientation, needs, abilities and physical condition.
- Ability to operate basic audio-visual equipment such as the home theatre and PA systems.
- Ability to display a sense of caring, concern, compassion and dignity for residents.
- Ability to work independently and manage time productively while being attentive to detail and staying organized.
Education, Training, Experience:
- High school graduate or successful completion of GED.
- College course work in recreational therapy, social work, gerontology, or human services preferred.
- At least 3 years related experience or training desired, preferably working with the elderly.
- Participates in learning and development opportunities. Attends seminars, meetings and educational opportunities to stay current with best practice and emerging trends to best serve

- Flexible schedule with ability to work occasional weekends and holidays
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of Resthaven’s residents and employees.

- Practice the highest standards of ethics, honesty, and accuracy.
- Understand and support Resthaven policies and procedures.
- Attends department and team meetings.
- Assumes all other position related responsibilities as assigned.

For more than 75 years, Resthaven has served the Holland community, providing seniors with a full continuum of healthcare and services that is both innovative and tailored to their individual needs and different life stages. As the only faith-based, non-profit senior health and living organization in the area, we are committed to serving, supporting, and inspiring seniors as they age.
In the summer of 2024, we will open an entirely new campus on 40 acres adjacent to VanRaalte Farm in Holland, MI. This nature-rich setting will encourage healthy, active living and offer a vibrant space to build community and make rewarding connections. It will be our first campus that provides independent living and assisted living/memory care on the same site. The campus has 104 independent living units and a 24-room assisted living/memory care building.
The Farmstead will provide a full array of life enrichment activities, dining, transportation and more so residents can enjoy a full life and have the time to do more of what they love. We are looking for energetic, inspired, committed, creative and collaborative team members to join us in caring for an exceptional group of seniors while focusing on building COMMUNITY, COMPASSION, and JOY for our residents and staff.
