The Director of Product Management: Gas Chromatography is a strategic leader tasked with driving the growth and profitability of our gas chromatography product line. They will define the vision, strategy, and direction for gas chromatography products, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. This role involves gathering customer insights, prioritizing product requirements and the product roadmap, and guiding product development through the entire product life cycle. Additionally, they will collaborate closely with sales, marketing, research, and product application teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment with the company’s overall strategy and goals. Leading cross-functional team, they will spearhead the development and implementation of new gas chromatography initiatives while optimizing the profitability of the existing products. Managing and nurturing a team of Product Management professionals, they will champion excellence in product strategy and execution within the company’s gas chromatography product lines.

Job Duties:

  • Owns the overall go-to-market strategy. Defines the product vision, long-term strategy, and road map. Manages product life cycle for products in product line from inception to obsolescence. Drives tactical execution of the product strategy through the product development process.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership and alignment with sales, marketing, R&D, Applications, Customer Service, Customer Support, and Operations to ensure the success of product line vision and roadmap.
  • Specifies and oversees research needed to determine, market sizing and segmentation, an understanding of competitive landscape, needs and desires of customers and why they buy.
  • Manages customer intimacy strategy including a clear articulation of unmet customer needs to identify valuable product solutions to customer problems. Develops new market opportunities with clear market requirements, inclusive of priorities and financial justification (incremental revenue, ROI, margin contribution), for each proposed solution.
  • Communicates regularly with customers to develop an intimate understanding of decision maker business issues and works with Product Marketing to develop a resonating value proposition and meaningful positioning for products.
  • Plans, prepares and presents product launch strategies and plans.
  • Provides cross-functional support for the organization with the necessary product knowledge, technical expertise, and training.
  • Works with Sales management to establish global pricing strategies and ensures that the specifics associated with implementation of those strategies (e.g. price lists) are maintained and up to date.
  • Works with Marketing to develop product marketing plan, all necessary marketing content to communicate to both internal and external customers, and event campaigns to generate product awareness and demand.
  • Coach and manage performance to create a high-achieving team of Product Manager and Business Development Managers. Provide opportunities for team members to create a pathway for promotion and success in accordance with Restek’s leadership values and expectations. Conduct annual performance reviews and provide continual feedback on performance.
  • Manage Restek representation at conferences and exhibitions for both domestic and international markets in coordination with other product lines and departments.
  • Takes all necessary action to maximize profitability of their assigned product line/s.
  • Provide product line updates to the Leadership Team on a quarterly basis and to the company on an as needed basis.
  • Develop, implement, and manage goals, strategic planning and operating budgets for the assigned area and product lines.
  • Work with Market Intelligence to define open questions and research needs necessary to support data driven decision making for assigned product line/s.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or business related field with Master’s degree in science or business administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in product management, sales, marketing or a combination thereof.
  • Possesses a blend of business and technical savvy; a vision, and a drive that transforms that vision into a reality.
  • A proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing people or department preferred.
  • Global experience with the analytical market and consumable products highly desired.

  • Demonstrate the ability to inspire others and build effective teams as well as be a strategic thinker and excellent communicator. Demonstrated leadership ability including working with cross-functional within a global organization teams and senior departmental management.
