Full-time Maintenance Assistant needed to join our team at the Residences at Deer Creek, the premiere senior living community located in Schererville. Performs general installations, repairs, & overall maintenance of the building, fixtures, equipment and grounds.

Specific duties include:

A. Provides assistance in delivering preventive maintenance for the building, equipment, and grounds.
B. Performs repairs as directed and within area of expertise including, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting and in accordance to accepted codes.
C. Assists with general housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping, wiping surfaces, etc.
D. Prepares apartment for move-in as assigned.
E. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
F. Assists in conducting and recording routine fire evacuations drills and inspects fire and emergency equipment.
G. Assists in the inspection of the physical plant, furnishings and equipment on a regular basis identifying needed repairs or improvements and advises the Director of Plant Operations of recommended solutions timely.
H. Monitors and records building and water temperatures and adjusts to meet regulations and safety codes.
I. Greets residents, guests and associates courteously, respecting individual dignity, rights and confidentiality standards.
J. Performs floor care on an ongoing basis, including carpeting in resident apartments and common areas of the community.
K. Removes trash gathered by housekeepers and resident care staff on a daily basis.
L. Ensures that outdoor walking areas and parking lot are clean and in good repair and free of debris.

M. Maintains grounds in a professional, well groomed manner by performing grounds maintenance on a regular basis or working with a landscape company to maintain grounds in an appropriate manner.
N. Assists in lifting and transporting heavy objects, including receiving shipments and furniture.
O. Assists residents in hanging pictures, arranging furniture, or moving, as necessary.
P. Coordinates maintenance services with other departments and residents.

Experience: Min. 2 years experience in building maintenance, carpentry, electrical or painting. Painting experience preferred.
