Repertoire Immune Medicines is Hiring a Summer Internship Near Cambridge, MA

2024 Summer InternNanoparticle Formulations
Company OverviewRepertoire Immune Medicines is a biotechnology company working to unlock and direct the remarkable power of the human immune system to treat cancer, autoimmune disease and infectious disease. The company was founded by Flagship Pioneering on the belief that understanding the repertoire of T cell receptor (TCR)-antigen immune synapses that maintain health and drive disease represents one of the greatest opportunities for innovation in medical science. Repertoire scientists created and developed the DECODETM platform, which allows in-depth characterization of TCR-antigen pairs, and the ability to deploy this information in the form of novel targeted immune medicines to fundamentally reprogram the immune system to kill tumors or induce immune homeostasis. From its sites in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Zurich, Switzerland, Repertoire’s team is creating a new pipeline of therapeutic immune medicines enabled from its DECODE discovery platform. Repertoire is currently using its proprietary platform to discover novel epitopes and TCRs from patients with autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis, creating programmable tolerizing mRNA vaccines to restore immune homeostasis in these indications. In oncology, Repertoire’s decoding of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and the antigens they target is enabling development of TCR bispecific therapies and mRNA cancer vaccines to treat solid tumors. Summer 2024 Internship – On-Site 5 Days/Week in Cambridge, MA
Role Overview
Repertoire is seeking a high performing student for a summer internship in the lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations team within the Protein Engineering and Molecular Sciences (PEMS) group. Our team is engaged in the development of novel, mRNA-LNP based therapeutics to be delivered to a broad range of autoimmune indications. The intern will work at the bench, under the supervision of a Scientist, and will primarily learn how to formulate lipid nanoparticles encapsulating nucleic acids and analyze them using various characterization tools. The candidate will collaborate with a team of scientists and research assistants, be interested in driving the generation of experimental data at the bench, and will have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. During the internship, the candidate will gain hands-on experience with experimental workflows in LNP formulation development and also interact with senior leaders in the organization to present his/her/their findings. This internship will introduce the candidate on how to design experiments, execute them, analyze data, and present findings. While the primary focus will be formulations, the intern will have the opportunity to observe mRNA workflows and techniques within the team as well.Key Responsibilities
  • Learn the theoretical and practical aspects of mRNA-LNP formulation process and characterization of LNPs using various analytical techniques (DLS, capillary electrophoresis, UV/fluorescence analysis).
  • Support general lab operations with buffer preparation, instrument operation and maintenance, and adherence to lab safety procedures.
  • Assist the formulations team in supplying formulations for ongoing small- and large-scale studies.
  • Capture primary data and document work in laboratory notebook, maintaining up to date records.
  • Analyze, summarize, and communicate data with the team.

  • Be enthusiastic about working in a lab.
  • Basic chemistry, analytical or pharmaceutical sciences courses (preferably with a hands-on lab component).
  • Proficiency in using MS office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to openly communicate and ask questions as they arise.
  • Proven track record of being personable, energetic, accountable, and an effective communicator.
