Repertoire Immune Medicines is Hiring a Senior Scientist, Protein Engineering & Molecular Sciences Near Cambridge, MA

Job Description

Job Description

Senior Scientist, Protein Engineering and Molecular Sciences

Company Overview
Repertoire Immune Medicines is a biotechnology company working to unlock and direct the remarkable power of the human immune system to treat cancer, autoimmune disease and infectious disease. The company was founded by Flagship Pioneering on the belief that understanding the repertoire of T cell receptor (TCR)-antigen immune synapses that maintain health and drive disease represents one of the greatest opportunities for innovation in medical science. Repertoire scientists created and developed the DECODETM platform, which allows in-depth characterization of TCR-antigen pairs, and the ability to deploy this information in the form of novel targeted immune medicines to fundamentally reprogram the immune system to kill tumors or induce immune homeostasis.
From its sites in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Zurich, Switzerland, Repertoire’s team is creating a new pipeline of therapeutic immune medicines enabled from its DECODETM discovery platform. Repertoire is currently using its proprietary platform to discover novel epitopes and TCRs from patients with autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis, creating programmable tolerizing mRNA vaccines to restore immune homeostasis in these indications. In oncology, Repertoire’s decoding of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and the antigens they target is enabling development of TCR bispecific therapies and mRNA cancer vaccines to treat solid tumors.

Role Overview
Repertoire is seeking a passionate Senior Scientist to drive the discovery and development of novel protein therapeutics, including TCR-Bispecifics. The selected candidate, working on the Protein Engineering and Molecular Sciences Team, will focus on biophysical characterization and developability of protein-based modalities to enable the development of effective protein therapeutics. This Senior Scientist will make significant impact on projects and the achievement of group goals predominantly through hands-on experimentation and data analysis. The candidate will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate biological characterization of lead molecules and prioritize leads for development. This position will have additional responsibilities in protein design, engineering, and production.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, curious, and innovative scientist with a proven ability to solve complex problems in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct and interpret experiments to assess the biophysical characteristics of TCR-Bispecifics, antibody fusions and novel therapeutic formats.
  • Measure biophysical properties of proteins using a variety of analytical methods (SE-HPLC, HIC, IEX, AC-SINS).
  • Develop and conduct assays for binding analysis: SPR and Octet.
  • Conduct developability studies of biologics and perform stability assessments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop stage-appropriate technology for the analytical assessment of proteins.
  • Design, produce and characterize proteins.
  • Manage outsourced protein production and analysis to CROs.
  • Adapt and present complex scientific findings to senior leaders and cross-collaborative teams to aid meaningful interpretation and action.
  • Mentor, guide, and train others within team around technology/approaches related to own area.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology or a related discipline with 4 years of relevant industry experience (OR) M.S. with 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with biophysical characterization.
  • Experience with protein analytical and biophysical methods, including HPLC and BLI/SPR.
  • Experience with protein purification (affinity, IEX, SEC).
  • Knowledge of and experience with TCRs and antibodies.
  • Experience with mammalian protein expression is preferred.
  • Experience managing CROs is a plus.
  • Track record of accomplishments in protein biophysical analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Repertoire is committed towards social responsibility and developing an inclusive culture. Much as the power of the immune system lies in the diversity of T and B cells, our work requires the creativity and ingenuity of a diverse workforce. We believe in actively pursuing equity in all facets of the work experience at Repertoire. We will continue to educate ourselves about the inequities and barriers present in our society and take action as a company where we can make a difference.
Repertoire is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Recruitment & Staffing Agencies: Repertoire Immune Medicines (“Repertoire”) does not accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than candidates. The submission of unsolicited resumes by recruitment or staffing agencies to Repertoire or its employees is strictly prohibited unless contacted directly by Repertoire’s internal Human Resources team. Any resume submitted by an agency in the absence of a signed agreement will automatically become the property of Repertoire, and Repertoire will not owe any referral or other fees with respect thereto.
