Remet Corporation is Hiring a Laboratory Technician Near Utica, NY

Position is responsible for performing all required R&D testing of customer and vendor samples and is required to submit reports and document all findings within the technical database as well as to the Lab Manager, Technical Team members and/or customers and vendors in a timely manner. Position is also responsible for performing all Quality Control (QC) testing on internally manufactured products to ensure finished products meet and pass product quality specifications.

Must be familiar with general lab equipment and operation of such. Perform some routine maintenance (calibrations, etc.) on lab equipment and keep lab orderly and clean. Assist in performing research and development projects as directed. Must protect and never disclose any Proprietary or Intellectual property to anyone without express approval by Executive Management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing tests on incoming customer/vendor samples which includes: raw materials, finished products and ancillary materials.
  • Perform research and development projects for different raw materials and new developmental products. This usually consists of making test batches and preparing specimens to properly characterize their properties (e.g., SP, Ash, Viscosity, Penetration, and burn rates using both ASTM and internal testing parameters).
  • Perform all QC testing on internally manufactured products to ensure finished products meet and pass required product specifications.
  • Issue technical service reports based on test results. Include suggested corrective action when appropriate.
  • Attain a working knowledge of proper operation, calibration and routine maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
  • Perform quality control testing for incoming raw materials as required.
  • Prepare graphs and support data for monthly technical report as required.
  • Calibrate lab equipment in accordance with ISO requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager, Technical Team or Management.
  • Keep the laboratory clean and follow all safety practices.
  • Follow all applicable ISO procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with the documented Quality System.

KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

A minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent with prior experience in an engineering or sciences field is required and a Bachelor's Degree in an applied sciences field such as Chemistry, Physics, etc. is highly desired.

A basic knowledge of lab testing and the ability to compile and interpret data is required along with the capability of communicating technical skills and information to customers/vendors, the Lab Manager, and the Technical Team. The position requires good analytical and laboratory skills as well as oral and written communication skills. Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, Power Point, etc. is required.
