We are seeking a Water Planning Engineer to join our team!
The Water Planning Engineer works closely with Engineering and Operations staff to bring needed water system improvements to the RWA's system and help us deliver Water for Life. RWA owns and operates a combined water system serving over 430,000 people in the New Haven region. With over 75 facilities, such as water storage tanks, pump stations, PRVs, interconnections, surface and groundwater treatment plants, water resources, and over 27,000 acres of watershed land, the planning work performed at RWA is varied and complex. Planning work is comprehensive with initial need identification, preliminary scoping, long-term scheduling in our 20-year plan, project initiation, design, bid, construction, and service; working at the RWA exposes you to the complete life cycle of the water system, from source to tap. What you'll be doing:
Performs a variety of professional level engineering work involving both office and field activities with limited supervision. Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to variety of assignments and related fields. Takes a significant role in long-term capital improvement planning, budgeting, and long-range design and forecasting studies. Participates in the development and management of the asset management program. Makes limited decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods. Requires use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices.
