SUMMARY:
Purchases materials, supplies, and services at the best possible price while maintaining the highest level of quality and ensuring timely delivery. Performs planning and scheduling functions on designated jobs, and assists in shipping and receiving as required.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Determines appropriate vendors on the basis of approved vendor qualifications, price, quality and availability per documented procedures in coordination with the Quality Department.
Submits requests for new vendor approval to Quality Department per procedures.
Negotiates with vendors for pricing and delivery, and visits vendor sites to evaluate their ability to perform.
Reviews purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy including signature authority per document procedures and resolve any discrepancies with proper departments.
Prepares, submits, distributes and maintains files per procedures for quotation requests and purchase orders.
Follow up on and maintain schedules and status on quotes, purchases and designated jobs.
As Necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.
Management must contact the Human Resources department of adding to or changing a significant number of duties.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Specifications of Education and Training Job-related experience, and knowledge/abilities are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this job by the average incumbent. General computer and office skills including Excel, and Word are a must. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
MINIMUM DIRECTLY RELATED JOB EXPERIENCE:
One to Two (1-2) years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of Just In Time (JIT).
Mathematics skills
Ability to interact with a team of coworkers.
Skills in preparing written reports.
Written communication skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Able to comprehend documents written in English.
PHYSICAL MOTION:
Walks at least 35% of each workday.
