Job Summary
1:1 School Nurse for Medically Fragile Children
We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled 1:1 School Nurse to provide exceptional care and support to medically fragile children in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with complex medical needs and a strong understanding of the unique challenges they face.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized nursing care to medically fragile children in a school environment, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
- Monitor and assess the health status of each student, including vital signs, respiratory function, and overall medical condition.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for each student.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including medication administration records, treatment plans, and incident reports.
- Educate and train school personnel on emergency procedures and the management of specific medical conditions.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of medically fragile children, ensuring their inclusion and participation in all school activities.
Requirements:
- Valid registered nurse (RN) license or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in NH
- Experience working with medically fragile children, preferably in a school or pediatric setting.
- Knowledge of common medical conditions and treatments for children with complex medical needs.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make quick and accurate decisions in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and healthcare professionals.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, with the ability to provide emotional support to students and their families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards of nursing practice.
