Job Title: Restaurant Server
Job Summary: A restaurant server is responsible for providing excellent customer service, taking and delivering food and beverage orders, and ensuring a memorable dining experience for guests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Greeting and Seating Guests: Greet customers upon arrival, help them to be seated and offer a special greeting.
Taking Orders: Record guests' food and beverage orders accurately, offering suggestions and answering questions about the menu.
Serving Food and Drinks: Deliver orders to the kitchen, pick up and serve food and beverages to guests, ensuring the correct items are presented in a timely manner.
Maintaining Product Knowledge: Stay informed about menu items, daily specials, and beverage offerings to make recommendations and answer customer queries.
Check Back: Periodically check with guests to make sure they are satisfied with their meals and address any concerns as soon as possible.
Billing and Payments: Present bills to customers, process payments, and provide change or receipts.
Table Maintenance: Clear and reset tables for new guests, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
Assisting in Preparing the Dining Area: Set up tables, chairs, and utensils, and arrange decorations or condiments as necessary.
Collaborating with Kitchen Staff: Communicate orders and special requests to the kitchen staff and expedite service as needed.
Handling Customer Requests: Accommodate special requests, dietary restrictions, or allergies and communicate these to the kitchen.
Handling Customer Complaints: Address and resolve customer complaints or issues professionally and involve management if necessary.
Up-selling and Suggestive Selling: Encourage guests to order appetizers, desserts, and beverages by making suggestions and upselling.
Adhering to Safety and Health Standards: Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling, sanitation, and the responsible service of alcohol (if applicable).
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other restaurant staff members, including hosts/hostesses, bartenders, and kitchen staff, to ensure smooth service.
Qualifications:
Work Environment: Restaurant servers typically work in various dining establishments, including casual and fine dining restaurants, cafes, bars, and hotels. The work environment can be fast-paced and may involve standing for extended periods, especially during busy shifts.
