Refractory Service, Inc. is Hiring an Industrial Sales Manager Near Jackson, WI

Shift/Work Hours: First shift Monday to Friday; 40 hours

*Hours outside regular schedule may be required 

Refractory Service, Inc. is a specialized industrial contractor, with over 60 years in the business. This position manages and oversees the day to day operations of the administration side of the Sales Department. Oversees the effective training and mentoring of employees in regards to appropriate ideas and concepts.

The primary product being sold is refractory construction services and materials. Primary markets served include, but are not limited to, foundry, power generation, die casting, investment casting, commercial and industrial boilers, paper mills, steel mills, and renewable energy plants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Works closely with sales staff with solving problems and answering questions that they might have. Handles any escalated phone calls, complaints, and other situations in which a manager has been requested or is needed.
  2. Reviews various reports that relate to company sales, staff, productivity, etc. and evaluates various processes and procedures to see if there are any instances within those realms that may be streamlined to increase efficiencies and quality of work.
  3. Evaluates and updates forms owned by the Sales Department and ensures that they fulfill the need that they were created for and coordinates the implementation of a new CRM system.
  4. Travel and assist sale representatives with technical knowledge and experience at customer locations throughout the Midwest.
  5. Attends various trade shows to assist with generating new sales leads. Serves as a resource for more complicated situations employees come across that relate to products and installations.
  6. Keeps staff up to date with various changes in products and inventory. Keeps the staff up to date with ongoing changes within the company and how they may or may not be impacted.
  7. Attends various webinars, conference calls, and conferences throughout the year to keep up to date on product and industry trends, changes in rules and regulations, sales ideas and concepts, and administration processing.
  8. Trains, motivates and develops staff in order to meet the current and future needs of the department and the company. Challenges others to develop as leaders, while serving as a role model and mentor.
  9. Maintains discipline, resolves problems, determines performance, and recommends promotions, transfers or dismissals.
  10. This position includes other duties not specified herein.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point skills

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of fifteen years of related work experience.
  • Experience in sales, foundry, renewable energy, and/or refractory is required
  • Experience selling a product that requires some technical understanding
  • A history of measurable sales achievements: sales awards, quotas exceeded, etc.
  • Understand value added selling

Certifications & Licenses

Industry-specific certifications and/or licenses a plus; must have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must have the ability to travel within Midwest. Must be able to successfully pass DOT physical. Confined space, OSHA, and MSHA certifications are preferred, but not required. 

Protective Clothing Required

The position may require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed shoes or work boots, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The position is an outside sales based position with frequent visits to industry operations. The colleague regularly performs work-related travel.
