Refined Gardens is an award-winning Landscape Design, Construction and Maintenance firm specializing in custom residential.
We are seeking a qualified Landscape Construction Project Manager to join our team.
General Description:
The Construction Project Management role at Refined Gardens is a mid-to-upper-level management position responsible for overseeing both pre-construction and active construction projects. Refined Gardens looks to its Construction Project Managers to bridge the gap between our Designers and our Construction team. Typical duties include: construction project scheduling, profit/loss, scheduling, staging, process flows, change orders, meeting with clients and/or sub contractors, closeouts and overall quality assurance of landscape construction projects. Typical projects range from $200,000 to $2,000,000, requiring significant experience and organizational ability.
Responsibilities:
The following represent the primary roles and responsibilities performed by a Project Manager; these include but are not limited to:
• Work with Director of Operations and Construction Supervisors to Manage the overall financial performance of the project.
• Manage interactions with clients and contractors through regular daily communication.
• Take part in the transition of responsibilities from the Design team to the Construction Project Management team.
• Facilitate the commencement of the project, examining opportunities to reduce costs, analyzing job particulars, and optimizing gross margin.
• Manage submittals, RFI’s, project documentation, material requests, schedules, close-out documentation, project archives, as builds, etc.
• Actively seek out and address discrepancies in bids.
• Negotiate subcontractor agreements effectively, ensuring favorable terms from contract initiation through invoicing.
• Collaborate with Purchasing staff to manage material buyouts within or below the budget.
• Proactively sell and handle Change Orders, aligning with client and contract requirements.
• Engage in daily collaboration with Designers, Superintendents, and Office Staff.
• Visit job sites as necessary to oversee projects in a dynamic environment.
• Work closely with Superintendents, participating in walk-throughs with various stakeholders, including Municipalities, HOAs, Homebuilders, Land Developers, General Contractors, and Owners.
• Manage the weekly update of revenue projections with detailed accuracy in conjunction with Superintendents.
• Participate in weekly Construction operations meetings and attend weekly Foreman meetings (if required).
• Assume responsibility for auditing and submitting monthly billings, demonstrating precision in forecasting material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

• Possesses proficient math, communication, and business writing skills.
• Has strong visual knowledge on how design on paper should be built in real life.
• Demonstrates exceptional negotiation abilities.
• Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of job budgets and scheduling.
• Displays robust organizational skills, capable of handling multiple tasks efficiently for projects.
• Familiar with Mac and Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and OST.
• Demonstrates emotional intelligence, fostering collaboration and strong relationships with clients and coworkers.
• Comfortably collaborates with clients and designers.
• Upholds and advocates for Refined Gardens company values.
• Brings real-world, extensive experience in landscape project management.
• Capable of solving problems quickly and thoroughly.
• Spanish proficiency is beneficial but not mandatory.
Education / Experience:
• The preferred candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in horticulture, landscape architecture, construction management, or a related field of study.
• Brings 5 years of experience actively contributing to contractual, purchasing, staging, and customer relations aspects of large landscape projects.
• Holds expertise in irrigation systems, hardscape, softscape, drainage, and Arizona plant identification.
• Proficient in On Screen take-off, as well as familiar with Excel, Word, PowerPoint/Keynote, and Firefox/Safari search engines.
