Technical Lead

Reports To: Senior Director of Software Engineering

Location: Chicago, IL

Environment: Remote

Status: Exempt; Salaried

Work Schedule:

This position is full-time and remote Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with an hour break, but flexibility is available based on coverage.

Purpose of Your Work:

As a Technical Leadworking within Redwood Logistics (one of our entities),you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our proprietary logistics application suite, a crucial component of our business operations. Beyond technical expertise, you'll mentor and guide developers, fostering their growth and maximizing team success.

How You Make a Difference Everyday:

  • Design, enhance, and maintain Redwood’s proprietary logistics software
  • Work directly with business users, stakeholders, and product managers to understand business problems and desired outcomes in order to develop innovative solutions
  • Own the full software development lifecycle, from ideation to production, for internal applications and customer facing, cloud native applications
  • Implement new features and functionalities end-to-end, ensuring high quality and performance
  • Become a subject matter expert on Redwood’s applications and architecture
  • Lead the deployment of developed features to production
  • Participate actively in code reviews, establish and enforce development standards
  • Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, set priorities, establish delivery timelines, and manage dependencies in order to deliver solutions on time and within budget
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of applications and infrastructure in Azure
  • Provide impactful mentorship to developers through code reviews, 1:1 sessions, and knowledge sharing; coaching and guiding them towards technical mastery and career growth
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment

You’ve Got This?

  • 5 years of experience in software development
  • Strong C# .NET, React and Azure proficiency
  • Experience with real-time applications, multi-threading, Messaging, 3rd Party APIs
  • Knowledge of RESTful Services
  • Familiarity with SQL Server
  • Proven expertise in developing solutions using the Microsoft Azure technology stack, including Azure App Services, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, and other Azure services
  • Experience with Microservices, Golang, CSS, XML, XSLT, XPath and Web API (plus)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • Passion for mentoring and helping others grow
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable
  • Availability to travel to the main office as required, typically a couple times per quarter, for user collaboration sessions and team-based activities
