Position Summary We are a small team of engineers building mobile products for over 140 million customers who shop at thousands of Walmart stores every week. We are looking for product focused mobile engineers who share our passion to build high quality products and ship fast. Position Description You can write Android apps at a number of companies, but the opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of millions of people is a rare one. Here in the Omnichannel team at WalmartLabs, we build the tools that bring the experience of shopping in our stores on par with (and make it even better than) the experience of shopping online. Yes, finding a pair of shoe laces in a huge store can be challenging or the lines at a cash register can be too long. But, these are all opportunities that can be addressed with cool technology solutions, often involving mobile apps. That is our focus. Our work includes challenges in the areas of security, geolocation, payments, scalability and architecture. Responsibilities:
Design and implement sophisticated features in Walmart Android applications
Work closely with product and design teams to optimize the experience for the Android platform
Analyze and optimize Android applications
Experiment with new technologies and features and build quick prototypes
Minimum Qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science or related field
Software development experience in Java
Experience with Android application development using Android SDK
Experience designing REST APIs and consuming RESTful services
Familiarity with Android Studio and GIT
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to step out of your comfort zone and use new technologies
Experience with unit testing, UI testing and automation
Experience with web technologies
Big pluses - having apps published on Play Store and reference to an active GitHub repo
