Red Ventures is Hiring an Editor | ZDNET Near Louisville, KY

ZDNET is seeking a full-time Editor who will write, edit, and publish content about innovative new products and technologies. The role demands a person with attention to detail, a passion for the written word, and a genuine enthusiasm for the latest tech products. This is an in-person role located in ZDNET's product testing lab in Louisville, Kentucky.

What You'll Do

  • Write and publish daily stories under deadline
  • Engage in product testing and hands-on product analysis to offer excellent buying advice
  • Develop strong relationships with tech companies to get new products to test
  • Write great headlines and descriptions, and select compelling images to represent stories
  • Scan press releases and social media to discover compelling new products
  • Write on assignment, including reviews, best lists, deals posts, tips, and other stories
  • Write product news, including embargoed information that demands timeliness and trustworthiness
  • Attend technology events and meet with company representatives in person and virtually
  • Use analytics and other tools to track and optimize story performance
  • Contribute to timely events coverage, including Black Friday, Amazon Prime Day, and other shopping events

What We're Looking For

  • 2 years of digital journalism experience
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related field
  • Experience covering technology and/or innovation
  • Experience evaluating and analyzing products
  • Experience shooting product photos and capturing product videos
  • Experience writing under tight deadlines
  • Meticulous organizational skills
  • Experience with spreadsheets (Excel and/or Google Sheets)
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet daily deadlines
  • Must be adaptable; priorities change rapidly and regularly
  • Must be trustworthy, committed, considerate, and a good listener; high emotional IQ

You Might Also Have

  • Experience creating and editing product reviews
  • Experience testing one or more of the following categories: robot vacuums, TVs, laptops
  • Reputation as a tech expert on social media

Compensation

  • Cash Compensation Range: $55,000-70,000*
    • Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
