Job Summary:

Increase corporate bottom line profits through professional, coordinated, and cost-effective marketing and sales promotion efforts.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Primarily within an assigned product portfolio and may assist with other product lines within the department. Product portfolios may change as company needs, market conditions, and opportunities change.

  • Research, source and introduce new vendors and products. Strategically adjust vendors as needed to increase sales and profitability.
  • Work cooperatively with vendors to develop strong relationships as well as improve their products and product performance within our markets.
  • Negotiate prices and terms with vendors.
  • Establish, maintain, and communicate standard and, if necessary, deviated sell prices to maximize profitability.
  • Collaboratively work with Purchasing to ensure proper inventory of product portfolio.
  • Analyze sales and other reports to:
    • Allocate personnel and company resources.
    • Improve line, vendor, and/or product performance.
    • Identify trends and techniques to apply elsewhere.
    • Discover and solve sales and marketing concerns and potential concerns such as lost customers or declining sales.
  • Communicate analysis results to other team members and, when appropriate, other departments and/or vendors.
  • Stay in touch with current needs, technologies and processes of our markets while trying to predict future trends.
  • Cooperatively develop a Marketing Strategy for assigned product portfolio with input from the Marketing Department, Department Manager and/or other stakeholders.
  • Analyze effectiveness of marketing efforts - including ROI.
  • Work with the Regulatory Team to maintain current and accurate quality documentation for selected products.
  • Work with Sales Team to cooperatively define customer needs through site visits and/or sample / trial events. Communicate with the vendor on results and identify any areas for improvement.
  • Work with vendors to target accounts, create price programs, and encourage their collaboration between our sales representatives.
  • Direct duties of Product Administrator in your selected product line.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: High school degree or equivalent required

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education: Post-secondary education or major coursework in business, marketing, or sales; or equivalent relative experience.
  • Experience: 2 years’ experience in distribution or related business.
  • Knowledge of industry products and customers.

Nelson-Jameson Offers:

  • Starting Salary Range: $48,000 - $55,000 annually
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle, or feel, and talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, or stoop.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25#. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

This position is located onsite in Nelson-Jameson’s corporate headquarters, in Marshfield, WI, with occasional visits to the Marshfield warehouse. The noise level is generally quiet.

Occasional travel will be expected for potential trade shows, training, or customer interaction.

Work Week:

Hours: 42-45 Days: Monday-Friday Weekends: As required
