Job Summary:

The Freelance Art Director will be responsible for the on-set art direction of e-commerce PDP for both photo and video. Additionally, they will concept and art direct special project shoots as needed. This position reports to the Director, Photo and Video Production and works closely with the Creative Director as needed. They will also partner cross-functionally with the Director, Content and Copy from pre-to-post photo shoot, and ensure adherence to guidelines and consistency in overall image organization and quality. This is an in-office position.

Responsibilities:

• Art direct e-commerce photo, video, and special project shoots on-set
• Maintain accuracy and visual aesthetics, and ensure that shot count is met or exceeded
• Partner with Creative Director to make selects during photo shoots
• Ensure image quality is upheld in retouching and mark-up
• Support photo styling team to ensure all items requested have been shot, processed, labeled and filed correctly, including pre-selects, color correction notes, and alternate shot locations
• Organize contact sheets
• When necessary, resize images to meet web and print template specs
• Support daily file management for e-commerce and special projects. This includes migrations, file archive on-boarding, validation, and purging
• Route PDP images to ensure cross functional key players have provided input on product accuracy, and ensure that images are reviewed by key stakeholders

Desired Background:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field

Experience:

• 5 years progressive experience art directing luxury fashion ecommerce (PDP) photo and video shoots, on-set
• Prior experience with image management system a plus
• Video editing skills a plus
• Art and architecture knowledge a plus

• Comprehensive understanding of photography, video, and social media file formats and associated terminology
• Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task required
• Meticulous attention to detail and organization with excellent follow-up skills required
• Image editing skills including cropping and resizing
• Excellent verbal and written communication, and strong teamwork skills
• Self-starter and able to interact cross-functionally, collaborating to achieve goals
• Ability to manage expectations, set deadlines, and follow up on projects with a strong sense of urgency
