How you make a difference

The Unit Manager is a key role in any facility as they are responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational functions of the assigned units. They provide critical oversight of security and sanitation to ensure a safe and clean environment for staff and residents, and act as the primary liaison between facility management, food service, and medical services to ensure efficient and effective communication and coordination between departments. With their expertise, Unit Managers help to ensure the smooth and successful operation of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee patient moves while responding to their concerns and providing appropriate communication.
  • Serve as a core member of the Treatment Team and ensure proper documentation and reporting of incidents involving patient behaviors in accordance with facility policy.
  • Ensure team members complete safety/sanitation inspections of patient rooms and address any concerns according to policy while monitoring the PAMM system to achieve compliance with patient monitoring.
  • Prepare reports on program operations and maintain all logs and other reports in accordance with institutional operational procedures.
  • Evaluate job performance and provide direct supervision for MHT and CNA positions while ensuring training needs and scheduling are completed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience working in a correctional, detention work experience. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field may be substituted for up to 3 years of experience based on management’s discretion.

Experience

  • 3 years of experience working in a correctional, detention work experience.

Licenses/Certifications

  • None required.
