Recovery Centers of America is Hiring a Medical Director Near Greenville, SC

Recovery Centers of America is currently hiring for a full-time Medical Director to join our team in Greenville, SC.

Position Overview:

The Medical Director leads, manages, and supervises the medical team and assures the highest quality of patient care at the lowest cost, including comprehensive evaluations, patient consultations, and medication management (including detox protocols) to an ethnically diverse patient population.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and enhances the highest standards of health care delivery to all patients
  • Ensures that all health care services are provided in the most cost effective and efficient manner
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, orienting, monitoring, directing, coaching, and evaluating medical staff.
  • Reviews relevant patient complaints and satisfaction surveys and responds as necessary.
  • Provides technical advice to the Executive Director on matters that require medical judgment.
  • Provides and arranges after-hours call coverage in coordination with other medical staff ensuring continuity of patient care.
  • Oversees, monitors and updates the Facility's medical policies and procedures.
  • Supervises the development, implementation and operation of a quality assurance program as it relates to patient care and participates in quality improvement processes.
  • Provides consultation and peer review for all medical staff at the facility.
  • Assists in the development of data, statistics and performance outcomes and measures, and compliance reporting.
  • Addresses risk management and patient grievances relating to clinical care.
  • Assists the Executive Director in determining the need and arranging for continuing education opportunities for medical personnel.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings.
  • In conjunction with the administrator and the governing authority of the substance use disorders treatment facility, planning and budgeting for medical services.
  • Ensures that the facility complies with required medical staffing patterns
  • Assists in the development of written job descriptions for the medical staff, reviewing of credentials, participating in hiring medical staff, delineating privileges of medical staff and assigning duties of the medical staff
  • Reviews any physical examination reports and medical screening results conducted off-site of a client for the preadmissions process or for other medical concerns, in order to ensure that the client's medical needs are considered and addressed in the development of the treatment plan and throughout treatment.
  • Ensures the provision or documentation of a complete medical examination as required by N.J.A.C. 10:161A-9.1
  • Orders, interprets and documents medical and drug screening tests as appropriate;
  • Documenting all orders for medical services to be provided to the client, including frequency and type of treatment, therapies to be administered or coordinated and medications prescribed;
  • Ensures that all medical interventions are documented in the clinical record
  • Ensures that medical follow-up of all acute or chronic illness and conditions are entered in the client's treatment plan, that referrals for medical services are accomplished during the client's treatment or as part of the client's continuum of care plan, as appropriate.
  • The physician shall ensure that the appropriate medical staff participate as part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, with such participation documented in client progress notes.
  • Assists the administrator of the facility in the development and maintenance of written objectives, policies, a procedure manual, an organization plan and a quality assurance program for medical services, and review of all medical policies and procedures at least annually.Such documentation shall be shared with the facility's physician, the director of nursing services and other appropriate medical staff on an ongoing basis or as revisions are madeThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Education and Experience:

  • Unrestricted MD or DO in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine and licensed or license eligible by the state in which the facility resides.
  • Physician must be certified by ASAM/ABAM, by July 15, 2016. This physician shall be a member in good standing in the medical community.
  • Physician currently licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey, who has not completed ASAM/ABAM certification by July 15, 2016, must have worked in a substance use disorders treatment facility a minimum of five years for at least 20 hours per week and have completed the ASAM/ABAM/American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) clinicians training course.
  • Valid DEA Certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years practice and 3-5 years in a leadership position.
  • Commitment to delivery of high-quality, cost-effective health care.
  • Ability to work as a member of a management team.
  • A high energy level and the ability to follow projects through to completion.
  • Ability to build consensus and work in a team setting.
