Starting Hourly Rate: $17.00

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be expected to learn and assist with the following job duties: 

• Learn the review of remittances, invoices, and reimbursement forms for accuracy, assign proper general ledger coding, obtain necessary approvals, and enter in the accounting system. 
• Learn to process accounts payable Direct Deposits and checks with appropriate signatures.
• Assist with answering vendor, customer, and departmental inquiries.
• Assist with monthly closings to include month end accruals and reconciliations.
• Learn how to maintain updated data within accounting software (vendor/customer name, address, direct deposit accounts, 1099 status, etc.).
• Learn to process purchase requisitions, ensure proper bids/quotes, appropriate appraisals, issue purchase order numbers and place orders.
• Assist with bank reconciliations.
• Assist with quality review of various transactions processed through accounting system.

 Education: 

• Associate degree in accounting or business management preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required that includes accounting and computer classes.
• If hired as an Apprentice, plan to take such classes (part of the 140 hours of free instruction at MVCC) is acceptable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

• Will demonstrate the ability to work cohesively within a team environment, while maintaining accountability for specific responsibilities. 
• Computer, accurate typing, general math, oral and written communication skills.
