Job Description –Virtual English Language Learner (ELL) Instructor, Interfaith-Rise South Office - Reformed Church of Highland Park Affordable Housing Corporation (RCHP-AHC)

Position Description

This position virtually provides English Language instruction to refugee and asylee clients of Interfaith-RISE SJ. ELL Instructor will collaborate with staff to co-plan, co-deliver, and individualize instruction for all clients; work together creatively to accommodate special needs, diversity, and educational backgrounds of the clients. This position will require staff to provide some evening instruction.

Reporting to the Interfaith RISE South ELL Coordinator, this position is 20 hours a week at $22,500/year.

Responsibilities Include

• Teach online, synchronous English language classes for clients via Zoom weekly. Evening Required
• Tutor individual clients or small groups to supplement group instruction as needed (i.e. to prepare for an upcoming job interview, GED exam, other employment or educational milestones).
• Assist clients in digital literacy instruction (keyboarding, computer basics, email and Zoom protocol) either through a series of courses or individual instruction.
• Coordinator with outside ELL providers and tutors to assure all clients have access to ELL instruction.
• Create and maintain an ELL online resource guide in conjunction with the ELL Coordinator which can be accessed by clients with ease.
• Case note client interactions in a timely manner and assist with reporting requirements.
• Serve as a point person for partnerships and referrals in (Southern NJ)
• Attend all monthly IRISE community meetings and ELL volunteer trainings as scheduled. 
• Attend weekly staff meetings and staff development workshops as directed by ELL Coordinator.
• Support and help match volunteer tutors working with online students.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• A degree in English as a Second Language is preferred.
• Experience working with diverse ELL populations both online and in person.
• Ability to problem-solve and to work collaboratively, self-motivated with an eye to building partnerships both with volunteers and other community organizations.
• Bilingual speakers preferred (English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole)
