Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA, is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to join our team! You will be responsible for managing and maintenance of the program budget and schedule, as well as intensive coordination across stakeholders to meet the objectives of the program. The Project Engineer will be involved in all phases of the product life, including proposal preparation, brainstorming sessions, supplier support, manufacturing support, and other sustaining activities.
Collins Ejection Seating and Propulsion is the leader in providing a safe and robust Ejection System to most USAF platforms. Our facility manufactures and tests explosive, propellant, and cartridge-actuated devices. From small, discrete devices to canopy removal systems, our facilities support a nearly unlimited selection of products. We know what's at stake every day when we come to work. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ensures processes are adhered to by the engineering execution team and liaises with program management and other IPT leads to assure technical goals are achieved.
  • Responsible for capturing lessons learned.
  • Take ownership of technical project execution through Design & Development activities into Production.
  • Present project status to multiple levels of Leadership.
  • Work as part of a cohesive team with test engineering, product engineering, system engineering, program management and Operations.
  • Maintain and oversee Earned Value Management as a Cost Account Manager.
  • Breakdown Work Package and tasking for execution.
  • Outstanding communication skills, especially cross-discipline.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and great mentoring/delegating skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and skills facilitating working in a team environment.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in Systems Requirement/ Execution artifact breakdown.
  • Experience in Test Plan
  • EVMS/CAM Experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong EVMS/CAM experience.
  • Collins ALM: Jira/Agile and Wiki experience.
  • Experience in Mechanical Design processes.
  • Experience in Explosives and/or Energetics
  • Bachelors or greater Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering

Employee Referral Eligible
The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
