YMCA SACC is looking for childcare workers to join our team. Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, and engaged.

Job Title: SACC Program Leader

Location: Elementary schools within Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties

Job Type: Part Time Work

Dates/Times: Monday-Friday, 5:50 AM - 8:30 AM; 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position offers the opportunity to work with School Aged Children both Before and After School. Our program operates out of all 17 elementary schools in Spotsylvania County, 17 elementary schools is Stafford County and one elementary school in Fredericksburg City.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.

2. Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Follows all procedures and standards.

4. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication

with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.

5. Maintains program site and equipment.

6. Maintains required program records.

7. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.

2. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

3. At least 16 years of age.

4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, licensing required trainings and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.

5. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.

6. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships

with people from different backgrounds.

7. Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.

8. Previous experience with diverse populations.

9. Completes Praesidium within 7 days of hire date.

10. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Physical Demands:

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.

2. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

3. Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.

4. Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

5. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.

6. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.

7. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.

8. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency

9. Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
