Job Summary
The hands on Solutions Architect will be responsible for translating business opportunities into technical requirements and articulating/documenting the overall vision for an end-to-end solution. This role is an expansion to an existing team and will bridge A&H insurance lines of business with modern as well as legacy technologies by leading multiple design initiatives at any one time while working with developers, enterprise architects and engineers.
Responsibilities:

• Designing, modifying, and verifying software and system integration architecture
• Providing supervision and technical guidance to development teams
• Continuously researching current, emerging technologies, and proposing changes where needed
• Informing stakeholders about any issues with current technical solutions being implemented
• Assessing the business impact of technical choices and providing updates on solution development processes, costs, and budgets

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with vendors, clients, peers, and IT management
• Leadership abilities and the capacity to guide development teams
• In-depth understanding of coding languages, cloud, networks, security, operating systems, and databases
• Substantial knowledge of the software development life cycle and the Agile methodology
• Must be competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of a solution architecture design, using state of the art rule/framework-based architecture, object-oriented component analysis and proficiency in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture and enterprise application architecture
• Ability to find creative and secure solutions with keen attention to detail
• Proficiency with diagraming tools and various documentation approaches
• Knowledge of design and implementation of solutions and systems using homegrown and off the shelf applications located in the cloud and on-premises
• Must be able to clearly communicate complex technical and business concepts both to business partners and team members

Additional Skills:

• Familiarity with various infrastructure platforms
• Understanding of process optimization and deployment
• Interest in new and developing technologies
• Ability to organize and prioritize critical projects effectively

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Education:

• Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in IT, computer science or engineering, is preferred
• Professional certifications when combined with below experience requirements will be considered
• System and application program development technological alternatives and architecture methodologies for multi-platform (Mainframe, AS/400) environments

Experience:

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in at least 3 of the following: software development, systems engineering, software architecture design, on-cloud development, DevOps
• Proven work experience as a Solution or Software Architect with integration pattern knowledge
• Experience in various software designs, languages, integration technologies and architecture
• Previous project management experience is advantageous
• Proven discipline in concurrently managing multiple initiatives
• Experience in the insurance (e.g. UW, Claim, Policy Issuance) or financial industry highly preferred
• Experience developing roadmaps outlining the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from current to future state
