POSITION SUMMARY

Our client, Boart Longyear is looking for a Product Engineer for their newly formed subsidiary, eager to learn and contribute in their growing team. Reporting to the Head of Product of TruScan, you will join the product team to help define, scale, and take an active leadership role in their newest disruptive mining technologies and products. Your responsibilities include:

• Lead the development of project requirements and the execution of resource allocation, plans and schedules for multi-component hardware and remote-sensing systems

• Research and evaluate the latest electronic solutions (remote sensing, embedded systems etc.) to translate into business and customer needs

• Coordinating new product development processes and communicating its impact on the business.

• Facilitate and assist in the development of a product lifecycle management (PLM) plan

• Ensure process areas are followed in accordance with all regulations and best practices (e.g., quality, ISO, general risk-management controls etc.)

• Contribute to defining the product strategy for a high growth product in the mineral exploration industry, including all aspects of product inception, discovery and design and balancing impact, feasibility, time, and cost

• Help define and manage outcomes based KPIs (not just lists of features) to organize work and manage product delivery and performance

• Work collaboratively as part of a globally distributed and world-class product team to ensure the TruScan product delivery and alignment between TruScan and GDS’s overall objectives and strategy

• Lead cross functionally to define requirements and design features with the goal of securing continuous product market fit and growth

• Collaborate with the TruScan commercialization team to act as the voice of the customer, with a deep understanding of user personas, pain points and customer journeys; utilizing these as inputs to consistently develop TruScan’s product roadmap to remain ahead of market

• Work closely with the product, engineering, and broader GDS team to help develop TruScan’s product roadmap

• Communicate TruScan’s product strategy to GDS employees and product leadership

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent experience

• 3-6 years' experience in hardware and electronic development and/or design in products

• Experience with industrial IoT, remote sensing technologies, machine automation, PLCs or other industrial or commercial hardware applications a plus

• Desire to grow and be mentored into a leadership role

• Prior experience working with electrical, mechanical, or other engineering disciplines to design and deliver quality and innovative commercial products

• Knowledge of hardware design control procedures for electrical, embedded, and mechanical systems

• Knowledge of hardware product development process (e.g., design, CAD modeling, manufacturing, testing)

• Background in hardware development and able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers

• Ability to develop clean and targeted documentation, including process flows and standard operating procedures

• Ability to provide clear and concise verbal and written communication for product leadership to make informed decisions on long term goals & strategies
