Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join Ramapo Communication Corp's team. The role involves working on outdoor utility construction sites and requires expertise in both single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables.
Responsibilities:
- Test and troubleshoot continuity of fiber optic networks using various testing equipment.
- Operate and maintain testing equipment, demonstrating proficiency in resolving challenges typical to fiber optic networks.
- Experience with prepping fiber splice enclosures from manufacturers such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
- Utilize fusion splicer and test equipment including OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter.
- Apply fiber engineering knowledge to understand fiber design, read documentation, and comprehend light levels and dB loss.
- Work efficiently on outdoor utility construction sites, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Prepare and splice both single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the successful completion of projects within specified timelines.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Fiber Splicer or similar role.
- Proficiency in operating testing equipment and resolving challenges common to fiber optic networks.
- Strong understanding of fiber design, documentation reading, and knowledge of light levels and dB loss.
- Ability to work in outdoor utility construction sites.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
