JOB SUMMARY
The Aging Services Associate at Rainbow Health will play a crucial role in supporting the agency’s aging initiatives within the LGBTQ and HIV communities. This role will also be assisting in developing new aging-specific resources and assisting with events related to key issues of aging within the HIV and LGBTQ communities for providers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Building and maintaining an aging-specific health resource hub for members of the LGBTQ and HIV communities, as well as providers and other community partners, and ensuring accessibility standards are met.
  • Updating the Training to Serve Inclusive Aging Providers list by researching resources and recruiting and assessing providers to be included.
  • Coordinating with marketing department in outreach by attending events and local conferences to promote resource hub and aging initiatives.
  • Developing and delivering external trainings for professional and community audiences related to the content of the health resource hub (Violet), along with needed administrative work.
  • Organizing events focused on older-adult audiences in the communities we serve, including booking speakers and handling logistics for an all-day summit on key issues of aging within the HIV and LGBTQ communities for providers.
  • Developing aging-focused resources for internal staff, aging community members and their families, and community partners.
  • Assisting with the relaunch of Rainbow Health’s Standards of Inclusion to represent the vision for health equity within the LGBTQ communities in Minnesota.
  • Further developing Rainbow Health’s connections with older adults through email, social media, and other means.
  • Other duties related to aging services as needed within the agency.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years’ experience in a training or advocacy role and/or relevant life or professional experience related to issues confronting LGBTQ and/or HIV older adults.
  • Ability to work with both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in a second language other than English.
  • Individuals with lived experience or a passion towards our target populations (Gay/Bi/MSM/Queer, Transgender, African American, multi-racial communities that are disproportionately impacted by HIV, HIV positive people, and those engaging in risk behaviors for HIV in individual and group settings) are encouraged to apply.
  • Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and/or reliable transportation to reach metro and greater Minnesota clients for up to 25% metro area travel, some of which may not be accessible via public transportation, and occasional travel to greater Minnesota.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position is a hybrid position. Work takes place in the office or remotely, but there there are some in-person activities, such as trainings and community meetings, that will take place in the Twin Cities and the person in this role will need to attend those.
  • Employees working in person with clients or out of our offices are required to show proof of vaccination and attest to their vaccination status upon hire. Employees who are not vaccinated will be required to show a negative COVID-19 PCR test result once a week if working with clients or in our offices. Religious and medical exemptions or reasonable accommodations will be considered upon request as required by applicable law.

This is a full-time position. The hiring range for this position begins at $50,400/annually, and ends at $57,120/annually. Rainbow Health reviews all direct relevant work experience to evaluate the appropriate salary at the time of an offer of employment.

This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by SEIU Healthcare Minnesota & Iowa. All wages, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment will be established through negotiations with the union.
