Job Summary:

The Rail / Track Engineer IV applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area and independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. This position acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields, and ability to function on multidisciplinary teams. In addition, works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design a complete project, system, component, or process
  • Prepare complete project documents
  • Design and conduct experiments
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Formulate and solve problems
  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficiency with electronic communication including e-mail and text, as well as standard office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills
  • Interact with other staff
  • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • 4 years prior experience needed

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
  • Experience producing drawings with CAD software

Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:

  • Professional Engineer (PE)

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assign tasks to and direct engineers, designers, and administrative staff
  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the engineering work
  • Prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
  • Assist with proposals to provide professional services
